I ONCE KNEW YOU

He stares deep into her eyes
Penetrating her soul with inner anguish flowing  from within him
His pain travels slowly, but dispersing gently through the depths of her bare soul
He cries, he laughs, he cringes, he stands, he stoops
With a mild but agonising tone he screams
With tender love and piercing sorrow he speaks
I once knew you
